In this early morning
coffee shop, the runners
social misfits gather.
Some have just awoken
while others wind down
to a short stack crawl.
It is here, I think,
in this hazy center of
the Venn diagram
that people are most human,
both drunk and aerobicizer
overwhelmed by relief
that they are not the other.
